Orlando Magic Getting Inside 2009-12-04

Orlando Magic Getting Inside 2009-12-04A lot of teams would be worried about losing their edge on a four-game West Coast trip. Not the Magic, whose success away from home has been the key to their rise in the NBA.

"We like going on the road. It's like being at home for us," said Magic center Dwight Howard. "It doesn't bother us."

The Magic (15-4) have the most wins in the NBA -- the best record in the East -- and they start a four-game Western swing Saturday at Golden State. The trip includes games against the Clippers, Jazz and Suns.

The Magic are riding a six-game road winning streak, hoping to set a franchise record on this trip. They can match the franchise record for most consecutive wins Saturday and break it Tuesday in Los Angeles.

"We're proud of our record, but we can get better, a lot better," said forward Rashard Lewis. "We just have to build on what we've been doing."

The Magic have been one of the best road teams in the league since Stan Van Gundy became coach before the 2007-08 season. His attention to detail and relentless approach to the game have paid dividends.

MAGIC 118, KNICKS 104: Rashard Lewis scored 17 of his 20 points in the third quarter, leading a 41-point outburst in the period and propelling the Magic to their fourth straight victory. The Magic became the first team in the NBA to win 15 games this season.
