Orlando Magic Notes, Quotes 2009-11-07

Orlando Magic Notes, Quotes 2009-11-07--The Magic notified the NBA office early in the day about the tragic shooting nearby Amway Arena that shut down many downtown city streets for three hours as police searched for the gunman. The Pistons were in a hotel less than a mile away. There was a worry that the game would have to be postponed if the shooter was not found, which he was by mid-afternoon.

--Former Magic head coach Brian Hill, now an assistant for Detroit, was greeted warmly by many in the organization. Hill was the previous coach of the Magic before Stan Van Gundy. Hill is now working for first-year coach John Kuester, who was an assistant under Hill in Orlando.

--Beating the Pistons was a big deal for the Magic Friday for two reasons. The first is that the Pistons pounded the Magic in Detroit on Tuesday -- the Magic's only loss of the season. And because the Pistons have had a hex on the Magic in recent years, winning 20 of the last 25 regular season meetings.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We weren't really making a push to be great. I thought we were playing just well enough to win." -- Magic coach Stan Van Gundy.
