--Coach Stan Van Gundy has promised his team that they will see a kinder, gentler coach in the coming weeks. Van Gundy, in the past, has been very critical of his team, always finding fault because he is such a perfectionist. And he never seems happy. But after he asked C Dwight Howard on Wednesday why the team had not been responding well to his coaching, Howard told him that he needed to be more positive and less critical. "He didn't come to me complaining," Van Gundy stressed. "I asked, and he answered honestly. I respect that, and I'll try to change my tone." Howard joked about Van Gundy's vow to stop berating his team like he has in the past. It was Howard's suggestion that prompted Van Gundy to tell everyone about the meeting. "Players are like little puppies," Howard said. "We just like to be patted on the head sometimes, even when we make a mistake."
