--Magic owner Rich DeVos, during a radio interview this week, said he had no problem with his team going into luxury-tax territory for the first time this season as it tries to win the NBA championship. "Bob (Vander Weide, team president and DeVos' son-in-law) told me, 'We have to get you a championship before it's too late.' I guess he means before I die." DeVos is 83, walks with a cane and has lived more than 10 years now after a heart transplant. --C Dwight Howard grew up in Atlanta along with Hawks center/forward Josh Smith. They have known each other since they were very young. "In kindergarten, we were the twin towers, the tallest kids in pre-school," he said. --Howard was paid a pretty nice compliment Wednesday before the Magic played the Heat. Miami All-Star Dwyane Wade, who will become a free agent this summer, said he would rather play with Dwight Howard than anyone else in the league. "If I could pick one player in the league to play with -- and most people think I'd say LeBron James -- I would pick Dwight (Howard)," Wade said. "I'd love for that to happen at some point." QUOTE TO NOTE: "He's a monster out there. Coach challenged him at halftime to be the best player on the floor in the second half." -- Anthony Johnson, showing his admiration for Dwight Howard.
