
--The injury to Hedo Turkoglu means the Magic might be seeing more of the Twin Towers approach when Marcin Gortat plays alongside Dwight Howard instead of just playing as his backup. Howard said he likes the idea. "The Polish Prince and Superman," Howard has dubbed the pair. Gortat is the only current NBA player to have been born in Poland.
--G Rafer Alston is a big reason the Magic has remained in contention after losing All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson. Monday, though, was not one of his better games. He hit only 2-of-10 shots and scored seven points, the first time in eight games he didn't reach double figures in scoring. --The Magic missed a chance to clinch a playoff spot when they lost to Detroit in their 63rd game. A victory officially would have clinched the spot, making them the second-fastest team in franchise history to secure the playoff berth. It took the 1994-95 Magic team just 61 games to earn a spot in the playoffs.
