
--The Magic didn't try very hard to sign point guard Carlos Arroyo, who was a backup last season in Orlando. Arroyo didn't get much interest around the league, so he opted to join the growing ranks of NBA players who left to play overseas. Arroyo will be playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.
--The Magic are trying to use the start of construction on a new downtown arena to help their season-ticket sales this season, promising preferred seating in the new arena, which is scheduled to open for the 2010-11 season. --The Magic also let go of backup F/C James Augustine, who hardly played in his two seasons in Orlando.
