Orlando Magic Roster Report 2008-11-04

Orlando Magic Roster Report 2008-11-04
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Jameer Nelson, Shooting guard Mickael Pietrus, Small forward Hedo Turkoglu, Power forward Rashard Lewis, Center Dwight Howard. Bench -- Guard J.J. Redick, Guard Anthony Johnson, Center/Forward Tony Battie, Forward Brian Cook, Guard Keith Bogans.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G J.J. Redick is back anchored on the bench after a three-game stint of significant playing time in the first half. After a good preseason, Redick had been told he would be in the regular rotation this season, but in his first three games, he failed to make a field goal, missing all eight of his shots. He didn't play Monday night against Chicago.

--G Courtney Lee, a rookie from Western Kentucky, made his NBA debut Monday night and scored his first basket on a breakaway. Lee played 20 minutes, getting playing time that had been going to J.J. Redick, but he struggled to find any rhythm.

--C Dwight Howard hit the 600-block plateau Monday with his five blocks, leaving him only 223 blocks behind Shaquille O'Neal on the team's all-time blocked-shots list. Howard is second to O'Neal. Howard has said one of his goals this season is to lead the NBA in blocked shots.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F/C Tony Battie (fractured ring finger, left hand) missed the last five exhibition games, but he has played in all four regular-season games. He still looks rusty, playing with his finger taped. He missed all of last season after surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.

--F Hedo Turkoglu (strained groin) continues to play, but he looks more tentative than he did last season, and his conditioning is not where it needs to be.

--G Mike Wilks (torn ACL) is out for the season.
