Orlando Magic Roster Report 2008-11-17

Orlando Magic Roster Report 2008-11-17
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Jameer Nelson, Shooting guard Mickael Pietrus, Small forward Hedo Turkoglu, Power forward Rashard Lewis, Center Dwight Howard. Bench -- Guard Anthony Johnson, Center/Forward Tony Battie, Guard Keith Bogans, Forward Brian Cook.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Mickael Pietrus is actually exceeding expectations in his first year with the Magic. During his five years previously at Golden State, he never scored more than 11.1 points per game in a season. For the Magic, he is averaging 14.3, and looking like the best shooter on the roster.

--G Courtney Lee, who didn't play much in the first two weeks of the season, has learned that good defense can at least keep you in good standing with the coach. Since Lee made three steals in a seven minute span during a blowout victory against Oklahoma City, he has appeared in every game.

--C Tony Battie, who missed all of last season after rotator cuff surgery, showed why Sunday the Magic were so enthusiastic about having him back this season. When Dwight Howard struggled badly against Charlotte, Battie had his best game, getting nine points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes. He made four of five shots.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G Mickael Pietrus (six stitches on forehead) continues to play, but he still is wearing that bandage on his forehead. It was the second time this season he had to leave a game to have his head stitched up.

--G Mike Wilks (torn ACL) is out for the season.
