Orlando Magic Roster Report 2008-04-22

Orlando Magic Roster Report 2008-04-22

The Magic now have 15 players on the roster after adding Brian Cook and Maurice Evans from the Lakers in the trade of Trevor Ariza back in November. To fit both Cook and Evans, they had to waive veteran Bo Outlaw. Rookie center Marcin Gortat is back with the team after a short stint in the D-League.

ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Jameer Nelson, Shooting guard Maurice Evans, Small forward Hedo Turkoglu, Power forward Rashard Lewis, Center Dwight Howard. Bench -- Guard Keyon Dooling, Center Adonal Foyle, Forward Pat Garrity, Guard Keith Bogans.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Jameer Nelson opened the playoffs in grand style when he scored 24 points in 32 minutes. That was the most points he has scored in a game since Nov. 9 this season against the New York Knicks.

--C Dwight Howard made his first eight free throws in Sunday's Game 1 against the Raptors, finishing nine of 11 from the free throw line. It was a considerable improvement from the 45 percent from the line he shot in last year's playoff series against the Detroit Pistons.

--F Rashard Lewis was brought to Orlando as a free agent this summer because of his scoring, but it was his defense that is being touted in this series. He will be matched against Chris Bosh, the Raptors' All-Star forward. By playing physical defense Sunday, he limited Bosh to just four field goals in Game 1.

--F Brian Cook has been pronounced out for the entire series, still hoping to play if the Magic reach the second round. Cook broke a bone in his right hand late in the regular season.
