Orlando Magic Roster Report 2009-10-02

Orlando Magic Roster Report 2009-10-02PLAYER NEWS:

--F Rashard Lewis certainly wasn't feeling contrite about having to miss the first 10 games of the regular season while he serves his suspension for violating the NBA's Anti-Drug Agreement last spring. He tested positive for a banned substance (commonly known as DHEA) that was found in an over-the-counter supplement he was taking.

"I still feel like I did nothing wrong," he said. "I've received more support than negative feedback. It's only 10 games in an 82-game season. It's not going to make or break us. When Game 11 comes, I'll be ready to go."

--C Marcin Gortat, who adopted the nickname of the "Polish Hammer" last season, said he would rather be known by the nickname he was first given back in his home country of Poland. He is called the "Polish Machine." He said it fits him better.

"You can put a wall in the middle of the lane, and I'm still going to go through this wall, because that's just how I learned to do the moves."

--F Matt Barnes, signed as a free agent this summer, said he is hoping this is the final stop of his much-traveled career. The Magic are his seventh team in a career that is just beginning his seventh year.

"It's been a journey," he said.

--C Adonal Foyle missed the first two days of training camp because of a sore right knee. It is not considered serious, but the Magic held him out as a precautionary move.

DRAFT PICKS: None. The Magic showed very little interest in getting involved in the 2009 Draft, believing it was one of the weakest in years.
