The Arizona Republic reported Thursday night that the Suns brought in former NBA player Terry Porter for an interview, and that Porter discussed the vacancy with GM Steve Kerr and vice president of basketball operations David Griffin.

Porter currently serves as an assistant with the Detroit Pistons, who have a break in action after advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals with a five-game win over the Magic in the semifinals.

Porter is a 17-year veteran of the NBA, including stints with the Blazers, Timberwolves, Heat and Spurs. He served as head coach of the Bucks from 2003-05, leading the team to a 71-93 record, including a surprise playoff showing in 2003-04.

Another name rumored for the job is former Knicks player and current TV analyst Mark Jackson, who the paper reported will interview with the team on Friday.
