Battier's foot OK

When Tracy McGrady went for his much-publicized MRI on Monday, he was not alone. Shane Battier also had an MRI to make sure there was not additional damage to his left foot.

With no injury found beyond soreness, Battier returned to practice on Tuesday and said he felt better after the day off.

"We had matching MRIs," Battier said. "It was like a spa. We have side-by-side MRI machines. I was getting a manicure while they were looking at my ankle. Mac was getting a facial.

"It (Monday's day off) is going to be a long-term benefit. It's one of those things you have to deal with. You're going to have nicknack injuries. Unfortunately, mine's early on. Once we figure out a treatment that sort of hits home, you roll with it and things feel better. Last year, I had some problems and then we found a treatment that was good for the pain I was having, and I didn't have a problem after that."

Odd sort of streak

The Rockets have alternated wins and losses for 11 consecutive games, since Oct. 31 and Nov. 2. That stretch matches the longest of its kind in team history.

"We're playing two teams in our division, two good teams," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said of the Mavericks tonight and Spurs on Friday. "We are two games above .500. We have these teams coming in at home. These are the type of games we need to win if we're going to build on what we've done and separate. We have not been able to do that to this point. Now we have two games at home."
